Excellent performances from Watford Swimming Club saw the team finish third at the Hertfordshire Peanuts Division One Final.

Despite losing squad members to injury which meant younger swimmers had to compete in higher age groups, Watford recorded their highest position in the league for a number of years.

The final took place at Stevenage Pool on June 15 and featured Hatfield, Potters Bar, CoSTA, Harpenden and Bishop’s Stortford.

Fleur Hines, who competed in six events, finished first in the 25m butterfly for nine-year-olds with a personal best of 17.68.

In addition Hines finished in third place in the 10-year-old 25m butterfly, the nine-year-old 4x25m freestyle relay and the nine-year-old 25m backstroke.

Marcus Kemp, competing in seven events, won 11-year-old 50m backstroke while setting a personal best of 37.15 while also finishing second in the 50m breaststroke for the same age group.

Kemp added third place finishes in the 11-year-old 4x50m freestyle relay, the 12-year-old medley 4x50m relay and 4x50m freestyle relay. There was a first place finish for Eleanor Williams in the 10-year-old 25m backstroke as she finished in a time of 20.87.

The club saw 17 personal bests set by their swimmers during the meet who were spurred on by the support they received from their parents.
