UPDATED: Ex-Doncaster Rovers goalkeeper Gary Woods and Fitz Hall training with Watford
4:16pm Monday 12th August 2013 in Sport
Former Doncaster Rovers goalkeeper Gary Wood and ex-Watford defender Fitz Hall are both training with the Hornets and played in today's friendly win over Stevenage.
Hall is currently out of contract after his one-year deal with the Golden Boys expired in the summer and Woods is also unattached after leaving recently-promoted Doncaster Rovers, where he was number one and made 49 appearances out of 53 last season.
Watford are looking for a third choice goalkeeper but the club claim Woods is just training with the club at present and it is a similar story for Hall.
The pair were part of a Watford XI who beat Stevenage 2-1 thanks to goals from Javier Acuna and Diego Fabbrini.
Acuna opened the scoring with a curling free kick in the first half before former Harrow Borough and Birmingham City winger Robin Shroot equalised with a neat finish just after the break.
Fabbrini scored the winner in the final quarter of an hour as his shot from the edge of the area rolled underneath the trialist Stevenage goalkeeper.
Watford, who played in a 4-3-3 formation, had further chances through Fabbrini and substitute Uche Ikpeazu plus Dani Lopez and Marcus Haber had opportunities for Stevenage.
Lopez could have equalised for the home side late on but his excellent effort was tipped over by Woods.
Watford: Woods; Ekstrand, Hall, Brown, Pudil (Kyprianou, 60); Barnum-Bobb, O’Nien (Hope, 73), Byers; Fabbrini, Acuna, Mensah (Ikpeazu, 60).
Stevenage: Trialist; Smith, Murphy, Hartley, Deacon; Dunn, Trialist, Shroot, N’Guessan; Haber, Lopez.
