Watford midfielder Cristian Battocchio makes Italy Under-21 debut
Watford midfielder Cristian Battocchio made his Italy Under-21 debut last night as they beat Slovakia, whilst new signing Essaid Belkalem was an unused substitute for Algeria in their 2-2 draw with Guinea.
Battocchio started and played 81 minutes as new Italy Under-21 coach Luigi Di Biagio begun with a 4-1 friendly win over Slovakia.
Sean Murray was also in Under-21 action as he helped create one of the Republic of Ireland's goals as they won 4-1 in the Faroe Islands.
Connor Smith, who was a late call-up, was an unused substitute.
