Free scoring Sun Postal Sports off to ideal start
Sun Postal Sports celebrated the perfect start to the season, scoring 15 goals in their opening two Division One games as Paul Hobbs opened his account as their manager in emphatic style.
Following a 10-0 victory over Stony Stratford, they put five past Wodson Park on Wednesday night.
The goal rout has been helped by striker James Armstrong, who arrived from Kings Langley. Armstrong has already hit the back of the net seven times, with a hat-trick on Saturday that was followed up by four on Wednesday night.
Jamie Harper chipped in with two goals on Saturday as did Ashley Lewis. Craig Lynskey found the net in both games, including a stunning free-kick on Wednesday night.
The side will hope to continue this goalscoring form on Saturday when they entertain Chesham United Reserves.
Oxhey Jets had a disappointing start to the Premier Division season after two defeats.
A 2-0 away reversal at London Tigers was followed up by a 4-2 loss at home to Holmer Green.
London Tigers went 1-0 up after poor goalkeeping from Jets keeper Will Baker. A free-kick slipped under his body and was finished off, giving the home side the lead.
In the second half, the Tigers managed to get a second to make the game safe as they ran out 2-0 winners.
Jets entertained Holmer Green on Tuesday night and quickly found themselves 3-0 down after a poor eight-minute spell.
Following the half-time break, Matt Deamer got one back and minutes later Simon Armstrong made it 3-2, giving Jets some hope.
With Jets pushing for an equaliser late on, Holmer Green were able to counter and made it count as they got a fourth to make sure of the win.
Jets will be hoping to improve as they travel to face Hadley tomorrow in an FA Cup tie.
Kings Langley have demonstrated an early-season scoring knack as they started the Division One season with nine goals in two games.
They opened their campaign with a 6-2 win over Buckingham Athletic on Saturday and followed up with a 3-0 victory over Risborough Rangers on Tuesday night.
Joe Gallagher struck twice in the opening five minutes as Kings took an early 2-0 lead against Buckingham.
Lewis Pritchard made it 3-0 after 24 minutes before Phil Martin pulled one back for Buckingham before half-time.
Further goals from Paul Insley and a Ritchie Hanlon strike made it 5-1. Buckingham’s Dave O’Dell reduced the deficit with five minutes remaining but Hanlon got his second minutes later to make the final score 6-2.
Like the Buckingham game, Kings started well against Risborough and took the lead after six minutes thanks to a goal from Connor Toomey. This was doubled when Callum Adebiyi struck after 23 minutes. A late Sam Warrell goal made the final score 3-0, as Kings made a fine start to the season.
The team will hope to follow this up at the weekend as they entertain Long Buckby in the FA Cup.
