Watford's Helen Freeman targets second European medal of year

Watford’s Paralympian Helen Freeman is hoping to win her second European medal of the year this weekend as she captains Great Britain at the Women’s Under-25 European Wheelchair Basketball Championships at Stoke Mandeville Stadium.
With rivals from the Netherlands and Germany competing, Freeman will be looking to build on the success of last month’s senior European Championships in Frankfurt as she played a crucial role as GB women’s team battled their way to bronze and secured a place at next year’s World Championships.
Freeman currently combines a busy training schedule whilst studying at the University of Illinois in America.
The 23-year-old skipper will be the oldest player in the squad, with the youngest aged only 14.
The former Rickmansworth School pupil brings plenty of experience to the squad having been part of the side that won bronze at the Under-25 World Championships in 2011.
She was also part of two Paralympics squads – in 2008 and 2012 – one senior World Championship, and has appeared in four senior European Championships.
She said: “Some of the best junior players in the world will be at this tournament so it will be great to test ourselves against them.”
