The 1st11 Academy’s Under-13 side were crowned Plate champions at the 22nd London International Soccer Festival and Academy director Andrew Kuprewicz says the player’s hard work paid off.
The annual tournament is held at Royal Holloway College, Egham, and the Academy side took on ASS Kuwait, ASS Bahrain, ASS South West and Brunswick FC Surrey in the group stage.
In their first ever competitive games, the 1st11 Academy recorded several impressive results. They defeated ASS Kuwait 14-0 in a group match and went on to reach the Plate final, where they beat ASS Bahrain 6-1.
Kuprewicz, who has five years coaching experience with Arsenal, said: "We learnt a lot out there as a team, and in the final we continued our consistency from the group stages and played some really expansive attractive football with a number of the players putting in some fantastic performances.
"We have a good young squad here, if we can keep them together the boys will continue to develop and improve.
"A huge congratulations to the 1st11 Academy U13 squad, it shows their hard work paid off."
The 1st11 Academy was only set up by Kuprewicz last September and aims to implement a culture of education and learning instead of focusing on match results.
TheAacademy operates progression and performance centres in Watford and Tring where players work on their skills on a weekly basis.
