Watford Chess Club are on the lookout for fresh talent ahead of the new season.
With five sides, competing in the Hertfordshire League, Watford enjoyed success last year as the first team won their league and their knockout competition, while the second team were convincing winners in their division.
The club has various events happening in September including a ‘simultaneous match’ between the club champion and the rest of the club next Tuesday and a ten-minute tournament open to all newcomers on September 17.
An annual derby match against St Albans is then scheduled to take place on September 24 before the Hertfordshire League begins in October.
The club meets on Tuesday evenings at the Town and Country Club on Rosslyn Road from 6.30pm to 7.30pm for juniors and from 7.30pm onwards for others.
