Great Britain and Ireland's hopes of retaining the Walker Cup were ended following a 17-9 defeat against the USA but Moor Park golfer Callum Shinkwin did claim victory in his singles match yesterday.
America opened up an 8-4 lead after the first day of the competition with Shinkwin suffering defeat against Michael Kim.
At the restart on Sunday, the USA strengthened their grip on the contest as they shared the morning foursomes 2-2.
That meant the host nation needed just three-and-a half points to seal victory from the remaining ten singles matches.
In match five Nathan Smith overcame Nathan Kimsey which completed the win for the USA.
Shinkwin took to the course in match six and despite being unable to affect the final result; he produced a strong round to defeat Cory Whitsett and earn a point for GB & Ireland.
