Cristian Battocchio played the full 90 minutes as Italy Under-21s won 2-0 in Cyprus this afternoon to move up to second in their UEFA European Championship group.
Having scored in the Italians’ 3-1 defeat at home to Group 9 leaders Belgium on Thursday, the Hornets midfielder was again named in the starting line-up.
Battocchio’s side dominated the attacking exchanges, ending the contest with 15 goal attempts to just one from their opponents.
Bari’s Francesco Fedato gave them the lead in the 67th minute but they didn’t make certain of the points until three minutes into injury time when Riccardo Improta, who plays for Chievo, netted the second.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Bond has been named among the substitutes for England Under-21's qualifier in Finland, while Sean Murray and Connor Smith will be hoping to be involved when the Republic of Ireland Under-21s take on Germany this evening.
