Listen to Charlton Athletic manager Chris Powell on Watford draw
Chris Powell was content with Charlton Athletic’s point at Watford on Saturday.
The Addicks took the lead through a Yann Kermorgant penalty shortly after half-time but were pegged back when Daniel Pudil scored after keeper Ben Hamer had been unable to hold a Diego Fabbrini shot.
Powell reflected after the 1-1 draw: “I think it’s a tough place to come and a decent team. We had the victory in our last game and we wanted to build on it and obviously taking the lead, you want to try and see it out and take three points but I think it was a well-earned away point today.
“It was quite a heated battle at times but of course it was definitely a penalty. They obviously got their equaliser, it was a little bit nip and tuck and they put us under pressure towards the end but the players stood up to it. It was a decent point and decent way to start what is quite a tough and hectic week for all Championship sides but for us with two away games, we go away now to Huddersfield and then we’ve got a local derby next Saturday but a good start to what is quite a hectic week.”
