West Herts Hockey Firsts were held to a 6-6 draw against Northampton Saints

West Herts Hockey Firsts were involved in a thrilling 6-6 draw against Northampton Saints as all their men’s sides played their final friendly matches before the start of the season.
The Seconds suffered a 3-0 loss against superior opponents Eastcote Firsts although new captain Matt Corbridge was happy with the effort shown by his side.
Two goals from Luke Frey eased the Thirds to a 5-0 win over Eastcote Thirds with Bill Anderson, Russell Barnett and Rob Gabriel also getting on the scoresheet.
Goals from Andy Archer, Chris Currie, Anish Verma and an own goal helped the Fourths to a 4-2 victory against Eastcote Fourths.
Meanwhile, the Fifths were indebted to Tim Jackson as he scored twice to help them claim a 3-3 draw at home to Eastcote Fifths, with the other goal coming from Hayden Langford.
There was a thrilling 4-3 win for the Sixths against Eastcote Sevenths following a goal in the dying minutes from Tommy Almond.
George Maybanks, Joe Higgins and Richard Hopwood had earlier got themselves on the scoresheet.
Elsewhere, the Ladies Seconds edged to a 1-0 win away to West Hampsteads Seconds thanks to Tanita Montgomery’s strike in the first half.
Goals from Clare Knapton and Hayley McNeill were not enough to stop the Ladies Thirds from suffering a 3-2 loss to West Hampstead Thirds.
Rachel Aldridge scored twice but the Ladies Fourths lost 3-2 to West Hampstead Fourths.
The Ladies Fifths beat West Hampstead Fifths 2-1 with Jo Perry and Ellie Kendal on target.
