Kings Langley exited the FA Cup as Wealdstone completed a 6-1
6:40pm Thursday 19th September 2013 in Sport
Kings Langley’s hopes of an FA Cup run were ended as they were beaten 6-1 by Ryman Premier side Wealdstone in the first qualifying round.
It was always going to be a big ask for Kings to cause an upset and they suffered an early blow as Joe Gallagher was forced off with a gashed knee.
That proved costly as in the four minutes he received treatment, Wealdstone scored twice through Sean Cronin.
Kings continued to work hard across the pitch but the Stones always maintained a goal threat during the opening 45 minutes.
Langley did hold out until the half-time break but soon after the restart Cronin tapped home to complete his hat-trick and then former Barnet and Wycombe Wanderers striker Scott McGleish added a fourth.
Wealdstone scored a fifth through Reece Grant but Kings grabbed their consolation in the 77th minute.
Adam Hallissey’s shot was blocked but Jack Johnson rescued the ball before laying off to Shaun Owens, who fired in.
There was still time however for Wealdstone to score a sixth as teenager Jack Hutchison curled a shot past Kings goalkeeper Ant Ladyman.
