Hannah Kitchen's first start for the Great Britain elite team ended in a fourth place finish in the Under-23 event at the ITU World Aquathlon Championships.

The Watford Harriers competitor started strongly at Hyde Park. She completed her 1km swim in the Serpentine in 13.19 minutes came out of the water in third place.

Just 48 hours later, Kitchen was back in action as she competed at the ITU World Age Group Sprint Triathlon Championships.

Going into the event, Kitchen was targeting a podium finish in the 20-24 age group.

At the end of her 750m swim she came out of the water in seventh with a time of 10.30.

Kitchen made a quick transition and that helped her made up ground on three athletes over the course of the 20k bike ride.

She had moved up to fourth place but a puncture ended her race despite a spirited effort to continue.
