Northwood Town Cricket Club celebrated their 40th year in style with a historic tour of Berlin.
Wood faced Berlin Cricket Club and returned with two victories from the one-day and T20 matches.
First up was a 40-over contest and Berlin batted first.
With current and past German internationals in their side, the hosts posted a challenging 168 for seven as Akshay Loomba and Jack Daly took two wickets each.
In reply, skipper Scott Walker led by example with a fine unbeaten 101.
He was supported in a superb partnership of 98 with Raj Kotecha (28) as the visitors got home with an over to spare.
The T20 was an exciting contest as the hosts took advantage of Town’s celebrations the night before and raced to 175 for two.
That total looked too much to overcome but Loomba had other ideas. The skipper for the day cracked a superb 97 before being dismissed in the last over.
His opening partnership of 76 with Nishil Mapara (36) set the pace and Kotecha once again pitched in with 17 in a 64-run stand with Loomba as Town recorded victory with four balls to go.
Vice President and joint tour organiser Gerry Pimm said: “It was an incredible tour.
"The history and backdrop of the place was really quite breathtaking and it was topped off by two excellent victories, particularly given that Berlin fielded current and past German internationals. We would like to thank Berlin Cricket Club for their fantastic hospitality.”
