Two ladies from Little Hay Golf Club took the honours in the UK Public Course Championships, held on the Eden course at St Andrews.
After making it through club qualifying and the regional finals, Nichola Goddard and Pauline Manning topped Division One (handicaps 0-18).
The 28 finalists, who had qualified from clubs all over the country, played 18 holes of stableford golf and the Little Hay pair both scored 34 points but Goddard took the title on count back.
The Little Hay Ladies golf team continued the club’s success by winning the Whitewebbs Golden Jubilee Shield at the Blue Mountain Golf Club near Bracknell.
This was the final of a national tournament for teams of five ladies playing matchplay and was organised by the National Association of Public Golf Courses (NAPGC).
The Little Hay side beat Wishaw (Sutton Coldfield) in the final by the big margin of four and a half to a half. The winning players were Elaine Meagher, Pauline Manning, Linda Reeve, Linda Cusick and Chris Marsden.
Little Hay Ladies play competitions on Mondays and Saturdays at the Little Hay Golf Complex at Box Lane Bovingdon and always welcome new members, with or without a handicap.
