Hatch End Hawks are up to second in the South East Women's Lacrosse Premiership after they recorded a 13-11 home win against Newbury Royals.
Lara Owen put Hawks ahead and the hosts added two further goals which forced Royals into calling a time out.
The visitors responded well and Amy Martin and Storm Trentham struck to give Newbury the lead.
But Hawks fought back and Nicole Sawdaye and Laura Dent netted to put the home side in front at the interval.
The lead continued to swap between the two sides in the second period. Hawks elected to take a time out and that proved a wise decision as, after the restart, Tiffany Lake went on to score the first of her five goals.
Both sides regularly found the net in the second half but Hawks managed to outgun their opponents and clinch victory.
Hawks Seconds faced Berkhamstedian Pendley in Division One North but went down 12-9.
Berkhamsted started well and had opened up a comfortable advantage. However the Hawks pulled one back thanks to Maggie Hughes.
That gave the home side confidence and the remainder of the half saw the two sides exchange goals as Bridget Angear and Hannah Thurston netted for Hawks.
The second period continued in the same fashion as the first and Thurston went on to complete her hat-trick.
But Berkhamstedian pulled away towards the end of the half and did enough to secure the win.
