Gianfranco Zola hopes to have Almen Abdi, Troy Deeney and Ikechi Anya back for trip to Brighton and Hove Albion
Hornets boss Gianfranco Zola hopes influential trio Almen Abdi, Troy Deeney and Ikechi Anya will be fit for the trip to Brighton and Hove Albion on Monday.
Anya picked up a calf problem on international duty with Scotland and Deeney also missed the 3-2 defeat to Derby County due to a calf strain.
Abdi has not played since August 31 due to an inflammation on his foot which has kept the midfielder out for more than a month longer than expected.
Speaking after Saturday's game, Zola said: "All of them are not long-term injuries. I think all of them will be available for the next game.
There are ten days between the defeat to Derby and Watford's next match at Brighton. Zola admits he is not happy about the extend break but says the extra recuperation time for the likes of Abdi is a positive.
He said: "It (the ten-day break) is not very good for me to be honest. I would have wanted to play another game straight away because that is how I feel now.
"But on the other hand, the good thing is we have more time to get all the players back who have been missing today (Saturday)."
Watford often organise friendlies when they have more than a week between competitive matches and Zola added: "We will try to organise a game for Wednesday or Thursday if we can. We will see as it is not easy."
