Garston Ladies Under-16 Mets staged a superb comeback against Bury Rangers Red, recovering from three goals down at half-time to secure a battling 3-3 draw.
Cassandra Chase netted soon after the break to give the Mets hope and when Natalie Powell grabbed Garston’s second, a third looked inevitable.
With only a few minutes left on the clock, Rachel Rabin slid the ball past the keeper and the comeback was complete.
The Under-16 Diamonds started well against a strong Watford Ladies Hornets side but ended up losing 11-1.
The Diamonds were very much in the game when Hannah Mackintosh’s free-kick drew the scores level but it was one-way traffic thereafter.
Early season pace-setters, the Under-16 Sharks won again as they beat Bury Rangers Whites 4-0.
Leah Crocket scored two, while Lily Clark grabbed a debut goal before Hannah Burt rounded off the scoring.
The Under-14s travelled to Harpenden and came home with all three points on the back of a comfortable 7-0 win. Goals from Casey Bunker, Katy Porter and Ellie Fitzgibbons put Garston in a strong position at half-time and the win was secured by a second-half hat-trick from Sydney Gammell and a debut goal from Eleanor Barton.
Garston Ladies Under-13s also went goal crazy as they beat Hitchin Belles Blues 8-2. It was the Belles that scored first but Frankie Culloty and Holly Chappell turned things around to leave Garston 2-1 up at the break.
Then the floodgates opened as first Chappell grabbed two more to complete a first ever hat-trick for Garston, Yasmin Sabri notched a treble of her own before Beth Smith completed the rout. The Under-12 Mets extended their winning run to six victories out of six, beating Harvesters 4-0.
Raaya Thanki and Libby Poster gave the Mets a 2-0 first-half lead before Abby Reith and Mia Ford completed the scoring.
The Under-12 Diamonds went down to a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Kings Langley, but the Under-11 Mets retained their place at the top of the league with a resounding 5-1 win against Harvesters.
Two early Paige Andrews goal set the Mets on their way before a momentary lapse in concentration let Harvesters back into the game. Ella Bannister soon restored the two-goal gap with an outrageous long-range effort and the win was secured by a second-half Nicole Zermani brace.
Garston Ladies Under-11 Diamonds recorded their first ever win after travelling across the county to beat Bishops Stortford 2-1. Georgia Rosenberg scored twice either side of a Stortford equaliser to seal the victory.
Garston’s younger teams were also in action in the HGFPL’s child-friendly competitions. Bliss Murray (3), Emma Green (2) and Milena Port all netted for the Under-10 Mets.
Jessie Dyson (2) and Josie Bennett scored for the Under-9 Mets and Keira Hemington and Leah Shellard were on target for the Under-9 Sharks.
The games involving Garston Ladies Seniors and Garston Ladies (96) FC were both abandoned at half-time due to the weather.
