Watford went out of the FA Cup at the second round stage, losing 1-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion at Vicarage Road in the third of four consecutive seasons in which the two clubs would draw each other in the competition.
Significant in Brighton's victory was goalkeeper and captain Skilly Williams, who had been given a free transfer by the Brewers four months earlier.
