Watford-born Middlesex bowler named in England one-day and Twenty20 squads in Australia
Steve Finn has been named in the England squads for the one-day and international and Twenty20 series in Australia as calls mount for him to be included in the beleaguered Test side in Perth.
The Watford-born paceman has been included in the 16-strong squad for the five one-day matches starting on January 12 and is also one of 15 players named in the 15-man squad for the three Twenty20 contests to follow.
Before the limited overs matches though, England will be bidding to reverse the awful form that has seen them slump to resounding defeats in the opening two Ashes Tests.
Coach Andy Flower has vowed to make changes for the third Test in Perth, which starts on Friday, and there is speculation England may opt for an all-pace attack as spinners have traditionally struggled at the Waca.
Former England bowler Bob Willis is among those who think Finn should play and he told Sky Sports: “I’m not in favour of throwing guys who haven’t played Test cricket straight into an Ashes Test, so I’d leave out Boyd Rankin and go with Steven Finn.
“Finn is capable of bowling the ball at 90mph. Admittedly, he goes for a lot of runs but England are going to need 20 wickets to get back in this series.”
