Fullerians Under-18s are through to the quarter-final of the LV Cup after they produced a strong performance to defeat Colchester 39-5.

Fullers were quickly on the attack and Luc Lee found space to go over for an unconverted try.

Fullerians’ control of the breakdown led to Colchester conceding a penalty and Craig Duncan fired through the posts confidently.

Colchester reduced the arrears with a try of their own but Fullers then took a stranglehold on the match and kept their opponents pinned in their own 22.

The pressure paid off as Conor Devine touched down twice in quick succession with Duncan adding the extras on both occasions.

It gave Fullerians a 22-5 lead at the interval and they didn’t let up in the second period.

Aggressive defence led to Colchester being pinned in their own half and, after good work at the breakdown led to turnover ball, a kick ahead by Josh Hancock led to Kieran Cavanagh off-loading to Duncan, who went over and then converted.

Fullers kept pressing and with the full replacements bench being used, this gave fresh impetus to the team.

The scrum continued to be dominant and with Dominic Seiler winning another ball against the head. Several passes led to George Selwood scoring in the corner for a 34-5 advantage.

Fullers continued to keep the pressure on with a series of catch and drives at the lineout but they were well defended.

However, a knock on by Colchester led to a five-metre scrum and Toby Cozens drove over to round off the scoring. Fullerians have a home match in the quarter-finals of the competition and will take on either Rochford 100 or Ealing.
