Garston Ladies held high-flyers AFC Phoenix to a 1-1 draw at the Met Police Club on Sunday.

A well-worked goal from leading scorer Vikki Duffy put Garston into an early lead and the score stayed that way until Pheonix grabbed a late equaliser to preserve their own unbeaten record this season.

Garston Ladies (96) FC battled hard against Biggleswade Ladies but went down to a 6-2 defeat despite a bright start during which Daisy Rendle opened the scoring for Garston.

Biggleswade struck back to level before the break and then took control of the game with four quick goals. The Bedfordshire outfit then netted for a sixth time before Steph Allen grabbed a late consolation for Garston.

The Under-16 Mets bounced back from the previous week’s County Cup defeat with a fine 8-0 win away at Bedwell Rangers Dragons.

Lauren Berryman and Clarisse Patel each scored a hat-trick and a brace for Olivia Thomson proved too much for the Dragons as the Mets maintained their four-point lead at the top of the table.

Elsewhere, the Under-16 Diamonds struggled to cope with the pace and movement of Bishop’s Stortford and ended up on the wrong end of an 11-2 scoreline.

After conceding three early goals, Megan Jones and Ciara Mackintosh gave the Diamonds some hope at the break but Stortford ran away with the game in the second half, scoring eight more.

Garston Ladies Under-16 Sharks made the short trip across town to take on Watford Ladies Wasps and came home with all three points after a well-earned 3-1 win.

Kristal Clarke scored twice before Hannah Burt made it three. Watford hit the target late on but the goal proved no more than a consolation.

The Under-14s were in action against Watford Ladies Harts and after scoring an early goal thanks to a powerful run and shot from Katy Porter, held on to secure a battling 1-0 win.

Garston Ladies Under-11 Mets were the third team to take on Watford Ladies and the third to come away with a win as they beat their local rivals 4-0.

Paige Andrews grabbed a goal either side of half-time while singles from Claudia Bulow and Charlotte Bambridge completed the scoring.

The Under-11 Diamonds, meanwhile, were unfortunate to lose by the same score to a strong Stevenage Borough side.

Garston’s younger teams went goal crazy on Saturday.

Darcey Bash (5), Bliss Murray (3), Simone Hingston (2), Darci Harewood and Lily-May Webster netted for the Under-10 teams while Annie Zermani (2), Jessica Dyson, Josie Bennett, Mary-Cate Percy and Leah Shellard were on target for the Under-9s.
