Vicarage Celtic moved into the third round of the West Herts Junior Charity Cup after a 4-1 away win at Wriggle Rovers on Saturday.

Celtic were the better side in the early stages and they took the lead on four minutes when a passing move between Trafford Nolan and Connor Flanagan resulted in Flanagan firing his shot into the net.

But the lead didn’t last long and Wriggle were level when a mix-up in defence saw their centre forward roll the ball into an empty net.

Celts pressed forward and were rewarded when Nolan was played in and he chipped the ball over the keeper.

Celtic added a third before the interval. Josh Squires Adams cleared a corner and the ball dropped to Jamie Gallagher. Passes were exchanged between Gallagher, Flanagan and Nolan which allowed the latter space to find the net.

The second period saw Wriggle put the Celtic defence under a lot of pressure but they failed to take their chances, which included a penalty which was missed.

It meant the Celts were able to make the game safe with ten minutes remaining when a fine run and cross from Gallagher was met by Matt Coultham, who steered his effort past the goalkeeper. Vicarage Celtic will take on Hadley B in the next round of the competition.
