WATFORD have rejected the chance to sign Marek Saganowski, the Polish international striker who has been on trial at Vicarage Road this week.
The 28-year-old, capped 14 times by Poland, flew into Luton Airport on Sunday night and spent three days at the UCL London Colney trying to impress Aidy Boothroyd in training and in a behind-closed-doors game on Wednesday.
But the Watford boss has decided against signing the Troyes AC striker, who was a hot property in Poland as a teenager until a motorcycle accident checked his progress.
"We will not be taking him," confirmed Boothroyd. "At this time of year you get a lot of phone calls from agents and I got a call from a respected agent who told me he had a player he thought I might be interested in. I had a look at him and he wasn't at the level I'm after and he's on his way back."
Also heading back is Rafik Djebbour, the 22-year-old French striker who has also been on trial. "He wasn't what I was looking for either," added the manager.
