Watford broke the club transfer record and the record for a third division club to paying £175,000 for Leicester City's powerful centre-back Steve Sims.

The England 'B' international would enjoy two spells at Vicarage Road making over 200 appearances for the club before following Graham Taylor to Aston Villa in 1987.
