Watford have confirmed the appointment of Giuseppe Sannino as head coach.

The 56-year-old starts immediately and will be joined by assistant coaches Francesco Troise, Giovanni Cusatis (both pictured below) and Paolo De Toffol.

Sannino has 17 years coaching experience in his native Italy and whilst his most recent spells at Chievo and Palermo may be deemed as failures, he has enjoyed huge success outside of Serie A.

The Hornets have yet to confirm the length of his contract but a website in Italy is reporting he has signed a deal until the end of the season with the option of an extra year.

Whilst the club have yet to confirm it, the appointment of four new members of coaching staff and a message from Sebastiano Porcu on Twitter appears to indicate his and fellow assistant head coach Adolfo Sormani’s departure.

Porcu’s message read: “A big thank you to all players and supporters for every moment this year. [From] Bastiano Porcu and Adolfo Sormani.”

Sannino, who had a long playing career in the lower leagues of Italian football, flew to England yesterday and was pictured last night in a meeting with owner Gino Pozzo and other senior members of staff.

It is currently unclear whether Alfredo Sebastiani will also be joining the coaching staff. An Italian newspaper published an interview with Sebastiani and an article which had suggested he was joining the Hornets.
