New Watford boss Beppe Sannino honoured to face Harry Redknapp buts says his players are ready to fight QPR

Beppe Sannino says it will be an honour to share the touchline with Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp but stressed his Watford players will be going to "fight on the pitch" tomorrow.

Sannino will be hoping he can make it seven points from his first three games in charge of the Hornets following a 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town and the emphatic Boxing Day win over Millwall.

Redknapp has 30 years of managerial experience and was widely tipped to become England boss prior to his departure from Tottenham Hotspur last year.

And Sannino said: "Harry Redknapp is a great manager. I don't know him personally but I know him from the television and it will be an honour to share the touchline with him and play against him.

"In the Championship, you can win or lose against every team so it is important that we keep our identity, know that we can at first work as a team and then with a lot of respect to the opposition, we go on the pitch and we are not scared of anything. We go and we fight on the pitch."

Watford played an expansive and dynamic style of football against ten-man Millwall on Boxing Day.

However, in QPR they will face the team with the best defensive record in the Championship; conceding just 13 goals in 22 games this season, although the Rs have lost their last two matches against Nottingham Forest and Leicester City.

Sannino was asked if he would be changing his style of play for the QPR contest after the Millwall game.

He replied: "I think QPR will have seen our game today but I am not the kind of person who has to hide anything. I have something in mind but it is very important that we recover from this game before I decide. But I have something in my head."

This is a good time to play them. They've dipped in form a little recently and we have a good couple of results behind us.

QPR are no walk away champions of this league and are nothing to fear in terms of ability, after all we should have been there or thereabouts ourselves. Without Mackie that haven't even got a recognised striker to last 90 minutes. I'm predicting a 2-0 Watford win to get our season back on track.

Will be even sweeter if that tart Barton gets sent off.

On more general matters, I would like to think that our recent poor form may now work in our favour as we are now flying under the radar again. Mainly wins with a few draws and a loss thrown in over the next 10 games and we'll be back in the play-offs without anyone noticing. Hopeful I know.

And that was a ridicules and lazy comment from you Gloryhornet 4!

I think you underestimate the manager.

On another matter, the headline above says…..

"New Watford boss Beppe Sannino honoured to face Harry Redknapp buts says his players are ready to fight QPR"

Don't you think this is a little extreme. Either as a reporter/newspaper you are exaggerating the headlines or getting lost in translation.

If he did say anything it would be the players are ready "per combattere sul campo" which means ready to compete with them on the pitch!

Combattere in Italian can mean two things fight or compete, but when talking about a match, you would mean compete.

This is totally different to go there fighting!

As I said in my other post, this could be frustrating if the headlines get misunderstood and also are not the case.

Please either get the headlines right or give me a job at the paper translating till his English improves. haha

I stand by what I said. Hanging a story on Redknapp and not on QPR. Similar to talking of mouth watering cup ties just because a former player goes back to one of his half a dozen clubs.

Failed the job app - "till" - that is lazy.

Yep, agree.

If you are not used to being an on the spot translator, then you go into a mode of translating words rather than replies or conversations in the correct form.

If I can I will try to do my bit on here.

Excuse some of my mistakes as some predictor text comes up on my pc, which can get annoying!

Totally agree Andy, we need some tinkering but believe the flesh and bones are there for a good squad.
I would truly love Lloyd to score with any part of his anatomy (except his hands of course). Our most improved player under Zola he continues to impress .He really deserves to get on the score sheet . Just when people write him off he comes back to prove just what a good player he is .
However I fear you are more likely to see Bassini win business man of the year by the office of fair trading than Lloyd score tomorrow . But we live in expectation , and who knows what can happen . COYH

I moved to south Oxhey in July 66 and the next season QPR ran away with the 3rd Div title and the league Cup. Watford finished 3rd and missed out on promotion to Middlesboro by a point thanks to two season end nervy draws that should have been wins.

SO was full of glory hunters then. All that has changed I guess is that some of the QPR "fans" are bald and flabby when in my day they were hairy and flabby.

Lest we forget there are indeed many Watford supporters in SO.

Good on ya.

I now live in Southampton and their idea of "Black Tie dress code" is a Southampton shirt and jogging bottoms.

I will travel up to Watford in the morning and be calling in to South Oxhey - now I will look along Heysham Drive, Hayling Road and Gosforth Lane in particular and may pay a surprise visit to the "Jolly Grinder" pub area in Carpenders Park, to see these Watford colours. Failure is not an option.

Don't see how you can call the South Oxhey QPR fans 'Glory Hunters' based on a League Cup win and a 3rd div title 46 years ago! Sure we have Glory Hunters here but they wear their Man U shirts whilst sitting in their armchairs. The Rangers fans support their club for good reason. Still hope we stuff 'em though!!

Will not be a classic game. We need to be strong at the back but I understand that Austin aint able to play for QPR. Not so certain mickallen that we have such a talented squad. Lack of balance in certain areas me thinks but let's hope for stuffing the hoops. Lloyd is due another headed goal.
Not having a pop buy I would love to know why you don't think we have a talented squad or what you expect?
Not sure how old you are but this and last season is the most talented bunch we have EVER had in my lifetime, I would say ever, and I am so happy to be witnessing it.
The last game showed exactly what we should have been doing all season and hopefully we are now back to our best!

Without any doubt in my mind, we have a very talented squad. Perhaps not so talented as last season when, in my opinion at the time, it was Premier League standard. We just needed better managerial direction.

This season we have a good Championship side that could easily survive in the Premier League if utilised properly. The difference this season is that we could now have a good manager. Too early to tell but the fact that our best two available players started against Millwall and are likely to today also, is a good sign. It has rarely happened this season thus far.
