Old Merchant Taylors' were victorious at the Hertfordshire Returning Students 10s Festival

Old Merchant Taylors' are champions of the Hertfordshire Returning Students 10s Festival for the second year running after beating Tring 21-0 in the final.

OMT got off to the perfect start in their group with 17-0 and 19-0 wins over Hertford and Welwyn respectively. In the final group match the reigning champions faced hosts Old Albanians, who they had beaten in the final the previous year.

OAs led 12-0 in the first period but OMT came back to win 14-12.

After a 7-0 semi-final win over Cheshunt, OMT ran out comfortable winners against Tring to become the only team to have defended the trophy in its six-year history.

Player of the Day was won by OMT Jack Close.

OMT beat Old Fullerians 29-5 in the sides’ annual friendly on Saturday.

Ben Seabrook, Jack Baron, Larry Knight, Harry Bellman and James Gregory all scored tries for the victors while Jonny Williamson crossed the whitewash for Fullerians to reduce the deficit late on.
