Watford have confirmed the signings of Udinese duo Alexander Merkel and Mathias Ranegie but neither player will feature in tomorrow’s match.

Merkel has joined on loan until the summer and Ranegie has signed a permanent deal with the Championship club until 2017.

The Hornets have received international clearance for Merkel but they are still waiting for it for Ranegie.

Merkel will wear number eight and Ranegie his favoured 13, which he has worn at several clubs.

Both players have long been linked with a move to the Hornets and were watching the match with QPR on December 29.

Merkel, 21, is a midfielder who joined Udinese a year ago from AC Milan, where he made his debut at the age of 18.

Ranegie is a 29-year-old striker who is 6ft 5' tall and has appeared for Sweden three times.

The double announcement comes after it was confirmed that Arsenal and Watford had agreed for Hector Bellerin to remain at Vicarage Road on loan until the end of the season.
