Beppe Sannino will not discuss players from other clubs and refuses to confirm if Fulham's Derek Boateng will join Watford

Beppe Sannino will not discuss players from other clubs and refused to confirm whether Fulham midfielder Derek Boateng will join Watford on loan.

Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen stated over the weekend that the Ghanaian international had been allowed to speak to Watford over a loan move until the end of the campaign.

The 30-year-old has featured once under Meulensteen - in the FA Cup against Norwich – but wants regular first team football in order to secure a place in Ghana’s World Cup squad.

Sannino was asked today if Boateng was set to join Watford and the Hornets boss replied: “His name is familiar to me but I am not talking about any players from other teams.

"When players sign for Watford I will speak about them and consider them, I need to respect the players we already have in the group.”

He's already in talks about a loan move. Is there any chance he could move for good to watford.

i would be happier to see how he works out first on a loan move, hasnt played much. When abdi comes back he would be a support act to Abdi and Merkel

Why do journalists use phrases like "refuses to confirm"? Is it because they have an overblown opinion of their own importance?

The question is: do we really need a player who cannot get into a Fulham side that is struggling? Does this mean that big lump, Berkalem who, is also looking to get into his national team for the world cup will, be off loaded?
We need replacement for the likes of Vdra and Hogg, priority if we are to get our season back on track.
The signs so far are not convincing, me thinks.

I think the big lump that you refer is injured. This guy looks like he could be a good addition particularly short term.

You may need to re-align your expectation when you say back on track. We started with an expectation of auto promotion, reduced it to play hopefuls, will now be happy with a mid table safety position.

I think you'll find he would be one to play behind Abdi and Merkel. We play three in midfield....... one of them needs to be a physical, defensive midfielder. This is where he slots in, clearly as a replacement for Thorne.

He can't get in to the Fulham side because they have some decent midfielders already so at the moment he's surplus to requirements.

He is strong and experienced so hoping we a) get him in and b) he fulfills our requirements.

Iriney is not a bad player but I don't think he's strong or mobile enough for the Championship; looked very good vs Brizzle away (one crazy pass aside) but they are bottom of League 1.

A midfield trio of Boateng, Abdi & Merkel - that could be somewhere close to the quality we had last season...

Nope, 'refuses to confirm' could be rephrased 'refuses to deny', means the same thing. Sannino could have said no we are not interested and that would be that, but he didn't.

I suspect there are some negotiations going on behind the scene along the lines of 'guaranteed' place etc. Boateng wants to go to Brazil to play for Ghana. He won't do that in Fulham's reserves or on the bench, even less so if he is on ours.
