Watford lead Bristol City 1-0 at half-time in the FA Cup third round replay at Vicarage Road thanks to a scrappy goal from Davide Faraoni.

In the 25th minute, Faraoni side-footed Lewis McGugan's corner towards goal and as Karleigh Osborne and Marvin Elliott tried to clear, the ball somehow ended up crossing the line in what may yet be deemed an own-goal.

City should have been ahead themselves in the second minute of the match after Jay Emmanuel-Thomas put Sam Baldock in one-on-one but the Robins captain's effort was saved by Jonathan Bond.

The game was largely made up of midfield battles and long-range speculative efforts although the visitors could have equalised on the stroke of half-time were it not for Joel Ekstrand denying Bobby Reid an easy finish from close range.

Neither side were able to create any other genuine opportunities in a disjointed but even first half.
