Garston Ladies made it back-to-back wins with a 2-1 victory over local rivals Northwood Ladies.

Gemma Curtis opened the scoring for Garston in the first half and the Purples extended their lead after the break when Vikki Duffy latched onto a long clearance from Jade Cook, shrugged off the centre half, and slotted the ball past the Northwood keeper.

A late goal for Northwood was no more than a consolation and Garston held on to secure three points to lift them up to fifth place in the league.

Garston Ladies (96) FC took on Evergreen Eagles and also came away with a fine 4-1 win.

Goals from Teanne Luck and Steph Allen saw Garston take a commanding early lead before Steph Plested doubled the advantage with a quickfire brace of her own. With a 4-0 half-time lead, the only disappointment was the team didn’t press home their advantage and Evergreen pulled one back in the second half.

The biggest win of the weekend went to Garston Ladies Under-13s who thrashed St Albans City North 7-0. The girls made the most of a heavy pitch and found themselves 2-0 up at the break thanks to a brace from Tegan Davis.

It was 3-0 soon after the restart as Katie Farrell scored her first goal for Garston after over two years with the club and Yasmin Sabri got into the act with a rapid hat-trick. Beth Smith then made it 7-0 with a great effort from distance.

The Under-16 Sharks travelled to Barnet and came home with three points after a hard-fought 4-2 victory.

The Sharks opened the scoring when Hannah Burt finished from a tight angle and Jade Roberts set up Lilly Clark to make it 2-0. The third goal came courtesy of a fine through ball from Burt, which Roberts latched onto and finished well.

Barnet struck back at the start of the second half but more good play led to a second goal for Clark and despite a further Barnet goal, the Sharks were never in any real danger.
