Genoa have confirmed the Italian club have reached an agreement with Watford over the loan signing of Daniel Tozser.

It is believed Tozser will join the Hornets on loan until the end of the season.

Watford prefer to announce signings once everything has been confirmed, such as international clearances, and there is still no official word from the Golden Boys.

An Instagram account attributed to the player also posted a picture of a Watford badge with a message including the hashtags 'new' and 'team' just after 4pm today.

Tozser is a 28-year-old defensive midfielder who hasn't made a single appearance for Genoa this campaign, after making 22 outings during his first season with the club.

Tozser started his career at Debrecen and joined Galatasaray in his teens but was unable to break into the team at the Turkish club.

He returned to his native Hungary with Ferencváros and scored four goals in 60 appearances during his two-year stay at the Budapest club.

AEK Athens signed the player in 2006, where he tasted Champions League football for the first time. He made 56 outings and scored three goals during two years at the club.

In 2008 Belgian side Genk reportedly paid around €1.5m to sign the defensive midfielder, who can also play on the left side.

During his four-year stay at the club, he made 159 appearances and scored 22 goals, where he again featured in the Champions League.

Tozser, who was vice-captain at Genk, is fluent in English, as he showed during appearances on Sky TV's Soccer AM in 2011.

Genoa beat a few Italian clubs to sign Tozser in 2012 but he has struggled to hold down a regular place and has only been an unused sub on five occasions this season.

The player has made 20 appearances for Hungary but his last came in 2011.

It is currently unclear whether Watford will now end their interest in Queens Park Rangers' Samba Diakite.

Rangers had told the Hornets they would have to pay a substantial proportion of Diakite's wages if they wanted to sign Diakite, who has not played a league game for QPR in more than a year and had previously been frozen out by manager Harry Redknapp.

When will the fair play regulations apply to clubs like QPR? (and Forest who paid 100% of Chalobah's 34K per week wages while he was there)
Financial joke! A group of foreign players on loan for realistic sustainable amounts and limited time - ooh noooo we can't have that, close the 'loop hole'.
A squad load of foreign players earning ridiculous amounts on long contracts, and stop them playing for any other club who won't pay the ransom money - yep that will do nicely, brown paper envelopes all round!
In short, up yours Arry! & welcome Danny Toz

Sounds like a good signing to me . Defensive midfielder just what the doctor ordered . Good result against Forest on the back of the heroics at the Etihad could see our season back on track . COYH

Can't see him getting in the team ahead of what we already have. Looks like he was once a useful player but that was a few years ago. At least we aren't paying over the odds to bail out qpr's finances.
