Watford Ladies have bolstered their squad ahead of the Women’s Super League season by bringing striker Katie Knell back to the club.

Knell spent two seasons with the Hornets before heading off for a spell in America. She made 15 appearances for the Golden Girls during the last campaign and is pleased to be back at the club.

She said: “I enjoyed it and learnt a lot in America but it just wasn’t for me. I’m very pleased to be back, I love it at Watford.”

The former Arsenal youngster believes the squad has a great chance of success this season and added: “I think we can do really well.

“We’ve got a very strong squad, from the centre-backs all the way through to the strikers.”

First team manager John Salomon is pleased to be working with Knell again and believes her time in America will have helped her development.

He said: “We’re really pleased to have Katie back as a Watford Ladies player.

“Katie has grown from her experience in America and having worked with her for the past 2 years I’m looking forward to seeing her continued progression into first team football.”
