Watford midfielder Iriney has joined Mallorca until the end of the season, in what is expected to be a loan deal.

The Brazilian has passed his medical and is set to be officially unveiled at a press conference later this afternoon.

The 32-year-old struggled to hold down a place in Watford’s team following his permanent move from Granada in the summer.

Iriney made 14 starts and three substitute appearances for the Golden Boys in all competitions.

The combative player had spent 11 years in Spain before his move to Watford and made 236 appearances in all competitions during that time.

He joined Rayo Vallecano from Brazilian side Sao Caetano in 2002 and also enjoyed spells at Celta Vigo and Almeria before a three-year stint at Real Betis.

Iriney was a regular starter for Granada during the first half of last season but then the club opted for a more creative option after they signed Recio on loan from Malaga.
