Watford forward Diego Fabbrini has joined Siena on loan

Watford forward Diego Fabbrini has joined Siena on loan, the Italian side have confirmed.

The 23-year-old joined the Hornets in the summer from Udinese and has made 25 appearances this season.

He has found the net just once for the Golden Boys, in the 3-3 draw against Reading in August and failed to nail down a regular spot in Watford's starting XI.

The striker, who has been capped once by Italy, began his career with Empoli. He came through the Blues’ youth system and established himself in the club’s first team.

He departed in 2011 and joined Udinese. He made 23 appearances in all competitions for the Little Zebras during his first season for the club but struggled for regular first-team football during his second campaign.

He joined Palermo on loan in January 2013 and played eight times before returning to Udinese last summer.

Fabbrini agreed a permanent deal with Watford in July but returns to his native Italy after just over six months in England.

Siena currently sit 13th in Serie B and have claimed 28 points from their 22 matches this season.

Patience with this boy finally ran out..... Shame - I liked his skill on the ball but not really suited to the Championship.

So two of the players that were supposed to take us into the Prem have been loaned to Serie B clubs, a division barely up to League 1 standards. I'm not normally a pessimist but its all a bit depressing. Maybe Ranegie will be brilliant and score loads of goals but the guy hasn't played for ages so it's a lot of pressure - where are the goals coming from? I still think we have a good squad and enjoy watching it (mostly) but this season has been dire and the sooner it ends the better!!

Frustrating because he always looked just shy of being a very good player. He's not really suited to the championship but could still take players on. A bit more fight and a final ball and he would be missed but I'm not too sad to see him loaned out.

To me the loan makes no sense:

The crowd may not like him but he was in our starting 11 three games ago and played minutes in virtually every game this season.

He is on a 5 year contract

He has all the skill in the world but was struggling to adapt to the English game I don't see how loaning him out of uk helps here

He may have been fed up in England, but loaning him to an average serie b side will not add to his value or stock in the world game (same with Battocchio before loan was pulled) He was playing serie a relatively successfully last season

We didn't need to let him go, we won't gain from letting him go so why have we?

Same with ireney (and Thorne) we swapped a holding midfielder who struggled to adapt to the championship but was adapting and improving for a player who sounds good but has no championship experience in toszer?

I hope it all works out

1 goal says it all, still if you spend most of the game picking the ball up on the half way line what do you expect, Troy will now have a proper striker to help him out.

A "striker" that was looking less and less likely to score a goal. I am happy he has gone out on loan because no matter how good he was on the ball you knew he was going to go nowhere near the goal and more often or not would lose the ball trying to dribble round the whole opposition team. The loan may be a good reality check for him.

I was wondering that as well - wouldn't be the first time the Wobbly got it wrong but I hope they're right on this occasion because for all his fancy footwork he never really achieved much.
