Watford sold mercurial winger Nigel Callaghan to Derby County for £140,000.

An extraordinary crosser of the ball, Callaghan's 250 appearances for the club peppered the Hornets' halcyon era.

Graham Taylor would later re-sign Callaghan for Aston Villa, and the winger would return to Vicarage Road for a brief loan spell under Steve Perryman. He was playing non-league football before his 30th birthday.

Brilliant, lazy, gifted, lacked focus, best crosser ever.
night club manager.

If he applied himself and health permitting the lad could have played many more years.

Thanks for your part Nigel in making others take notice of the Golden boys.
