Nigel Pearson denied he was getting frustrated as Championship leaders Leicester City looked to be heading for defeat until Danny Drinkwater’s stoppage-time strike earned a 2-2 draw against Watford and maintained his team played well.
The Foxes went into the game on the back of nine straight league wins but the Hornets were close to a 2-1 win until Drinkwater beat Manuel Almunia with a superb strike from the edge of the penalty area.
“I wasn’t particularly frustrated,” Pearson said. “I looked at it as a performance. We played well. My message to the players is always going to be, if I’m not happy with what I see I’ll tell them but unfortunately we got punished on two occasions.
"We could have done better with the second one [Sean Murray’s goal]. The important thing is that we try and maintain a level of performance which applies pressure on opponents and hopefully if we do that often enough, then with the quality that we have within the squad we’ll do okay.
“Having said all that, I’ve been involved in many games where we’ve done exactly that and you come away and you don’t get anything but that’s how it is.
"You’ve got to, or I have to as a manager not be too emotionally driven by it, I’ve got to look at it as pragmatically as I can and I know my players played well today.”
