Beppe Sannino says he is "not a magician" and insists it will take time to instil his ideas on the Watford team. But the Italian does believe recent results give plenty of room for encouragement.

The Hornets' victory over Birmingham City made it three games unbeaten in the Championship after Saturday's draw at league leaders Leicester City and a win before that against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Sannino admits however there is still a lot of work to do and insists improvements cannot happen overnight.

"I would like to give our supporters great satisfaction but I am not a magician. I am a realistic person – I know where we have to improve," he said after the match.

"I hope the fans were pleased with the result tonight and I hope they can understand that our players are doing their best and I would like to underline the efforts they are making.

"Also since I joined the club it has been train, game, train, game and we have forgotten to have days off. It is difficult."

The Italian was also positive about recent results, explaining Watford had played well against teams in good form.

"I think if you look at the last few results in a certain way, you can see they were two very good results," Sannino said.

"Leicester were in a very good run, they had won nine games in a row, and Birmingham have a great away record, they had won six times away from home before tonight.

"So if you look at the results this way, they are very good results. But I am aware we can improve."
