Listen to Watford head coach Beppe Sannino insist it will take time to instil his ideas on the Hornets team

Beppe Sannino says he is "not a magician" and insists it will take time to instil his ideas on the Watford team. But the Italian does believe recent results give plenty of room for encouragement.

The Hornets' victory over Birmingham City made it three games unbeaten in the Championship after Saturday's draw at league leaders Leicester City and a win before that against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Sannino admits however there is still a lot of work to do and insists improvements cannot happen overnight.

"I would like to give our supporters great satisfaction but I am not a magician. I am a realistic person – I know where we have to improve," he said after the match.

"I hope the fans were pleased with the result tonight and I hope they can understand that our players are doing their best and I would like to underline the efforts they are making.

"Also since I joined the club it has been train, game, train, game and we have forgotten to have days off. It is difficult."

The Italian was also positive about recent results, explaining Watford had played well against teams in good form.

"I think if you look at the last few results in a certain way, you can see they were two very good results," Sannino said.

"Leicester were in a very good run, they had won nine games in a row, and Birmingham have a great away record, they had won six times away from home before tonight.

"So if you look at the results this way, they are very good results. But I am aware we can improve."

A few random thoughts after last night's game.

1. Toszer continues to impress - great range of passing and wicked pace delivery from set pieces (Angella just failed to convert a corner in the first half). One or two 'giveaways' but overall excellent. Will he be able last the current two games a week schedule ?
2. Talking of a quality left foot thought lad Huws on loan from Man City looked really good. Some seriously challenging deliveries from the excessive number of free kicks we conceded around the box. One to watch for a possible loan next term.
3. On that topic my calm demeanour was lost late on when MA threw the ball out to Lloyd and Marco only for the two of them to conspire to concede yet another free kick. In injury time Manno - bloody launch it !
4. No sign of the 'Nos' - with plenty of central defence options what are the odds on a loan out in the coming weeks ?
5. What is the state of play with Mr Ranegie - I think we should be told !
6. Need to get Mr Park on the park and linking with the Deen machine (Linkin' Park - geddit ?).

I draw to close for now on that poor joke.

I agree that Manu continues to make bad short play outs from his area. Must be under some silly instruction as it puts our back 3 immediately under pressure. As a spectical, a poor game but at least 3 points and that should give some confidence. Was Anya crocked or to use an old term is Bepe a tinker man?
As I have said before, why no sign of the Norweigian/Sweedish striker? Doyley did well and made fewer mistakes than Ekstrand tends to do.
