Beppe Sannino believes Nyron Nosworthy is an “extraordinary guy” and says the defender’s court appearance earlier this week won’t affect his chances of securing a place in the Watford first team.

Nosworthy admitted last week to injuring a cyclist in a road rage attack in 2013. On Monday he was sentenced to 42 days imprisonment, suspended for two years. Nosworthy was also ordered to pay £3,300 compensation to the cyclist.

The 33-year-old hasn’t played for the Hornets since the start of January but Sannino says that is only a tactical decision.

He explained: “I can tell you I am very happy with Nyron and he is an extraordinary guy. What happens in his private life is personal and I can’t comment.

“What I can tell you is Nyron, at the training ground, is a professional and a very good guy.

“We have other players in his role though and at the moment I am picking them for this role. But that is just a technical decision.”

It was revealed during Nosworthy’s sentencing that a loan move to the north of the country was a possibility.

When asked if the centre-back was likely to leave on loan, Sannino replied: “I am only the head coach. I train the players and speak to them on the pitch. The transfer or loan market is when I speak to the technical director.

“At this moment Nyron is a Watford player and if I need him I could pick him.”
