Lloyd Doyley came off at half-time against Middlesbrough on Saturday because the defender suffered a "little injury", said Watford boss Beppe Sannino.
Doyley, who was making his 429th appearance for the Hornets which moves him ahead of Kenny Jackett and into seventh on the club's all-time list, had to be replaced at the interval by Tommie Hoban.
"Lloyd was not happy after the first half so I preferred to substitute him - he had a little injury," Sannino said afterwards.
