Oxhey Jets extended their advantage above the relegation spots in the Spartan South Midlands Premier League with a valuable 2-0 away victory at Hadley on Wednesday night.

Jets have now registered two wins on the bounce as they attempt to turn around a disastrous run that had seen them suffer 11 straight defeats and slip dangerously low down the table.

Wayne Gladdy's side were able to build on the much-needed win against AFC Dunstable thanks to an own goal and a Lee Armitt effort.

The breakthrough for Jets came early as Sim Armstrong’s speculative shot caused havoc and was turned in by a Hadley defender to give the visitors the lead.

Will Baker was busy in goal but Jets stood firm and held on to the lead until half-time.

Jets’ Armitt had the ball in the net but was the goal was ruled out for offside but it wasn't long before he did double the away team’s lead.

A quick thrown-in saw Armitt take a touch and hammer the ball low into the net to seal all three points.

Jets are at home to Biggleswade United tomorrow.

Kings Langley played their first game in a month on Tuesday night and blew away the cobwebs to beat Winslow United 2-0 away from home in Division One.

Kings left it late to secure the win but two goals in the last 15 minutes mean they are now five points behind league leaders Sun Postal Sports with two games in hand.

The visitors started slowly but were helped when Winslow’s Ash Farmer was shown a straight red card for kicking Lee Burgoyne in the first half.

Dean Hitchcock almost opened the scoring for the visitors soon after but his shot was tipped over and the game remained goalless at the break.

The second half was a scrappy affair and it wasn’t until the 75th minute that Kings finally found a way through.

Jack Johnson came off the bench to convert from close range after Alex Campana’s cross.

Johnson was involved in the second goal too as his run set up Danny Hutchins to hit the ball into the top corner and secure victory.

The win puts the pressure on Sun Postal who had their match against Amersham Town called off last weekend.

Sun are away to Risborough Rangers this weekend.

Tring Athletic pulled off a superb win in the Premier Division on Tuesday night, thrashing league leaders Ampthill Town 4-1 away from home.

Ampthill are two points clear at the top and came into the match on the back of five straight wins in the league but four goals in the second half stunned the home side.

Taylor Collins scored twice within eight minutes of the restart to put Tring in the driving seat. Lee Benning added a third and Chris Vardy made it four with ten minutes to go.

There was time for a late Ampthill consolation from Sam Holmes in injury time but it couldn’t take the gloss off an excellent Tring win.

Julian Robinson’s side, who saw their match against St Margaretsbury postponed last weekend, are at home to Holmer Green tomorrow.

Berkhamsted and Leverstock Green have seen their local Premier Division derby postponed twice in four days after the fixture was ruled out on Saturday and then again on Tuesday night.

Levy face a trip to Hadleythis weekend while Berko are at London Tigers.
