The Watford-born boss of Britain’s bobsleigh team will be hoping his number one four-man crew can continue their climb up the leaderboard in Sochi tomorrow and possibly win the medal that would make it their country’s most successful Winter Olympics ever.

The quartet of pilot John Jackson, Stuart Benson, Joel Fearon and Bruce Tasker lie in seventh place overall after completing two of their four runs, 0.34 seconds behind leaders Russia but only 0.18 seconds off third place Germany.

Watford-born British Bobsleigh performance director Gary Anderson, who is leading the sport’s team at the Olympics, watched on as GBR1 finished in tenth place after their first run in a time of 55.26.

Their second run of 55.27 was marginally slower but it turned out to be the second fastest overall as track conditions deteriorated, particularly after the Canada 3 sled crashed in dramatic fashion.

The third run in the four-man event is due to start at 9.30am tomorrow with the final run at 11am.
