West Herts men’s team rediscovered their best form in East Premier A as they completed a 5-1 win against Blueharts on Saturday.

The Stags made the perfect start as the Webster brothers Max and Dan combined for the opening goal inside the first minute.

The lead was doubled soon after as Max Webster slipped the ball past the goalkeeper and an opportunistic effort from James Dyson made it 3-0.

Stags eased off the pressure as the half drew to a close and the Blueharts were fortunate to only be three goals behind at the break.

West Herts remained in control in the second period. The visitors had a few counter attacks but they were easily dealt with.

Their fourth goal arrived via Dan Scott who dispatched a penalty flick after he committed the keeper and was fouled.

The Stags were awarded another penalty flick as Dan Webster was halted by the Blueharts goalkeeper but he redeemed himself by denying Scott’s effort on goal.

Stags had become somewhat complacent and their approach play lacked patience. They did, however, grab a fifth of the afternoon as Dan Webster lashed in a drag flick in off a defender.

Blueharts netted a consolation goal from a short corner but it was a comfortable victory for the West Herts side who face Wapping at the New Field tomorrow.

A mixed West Herts team defeated Stevenage 4-0 to reach the last 32 of the England Hockey Mixed Trophy.

While the margin of victory was comfortable, some profligate finishing meant they could have won by a far greater margin.

Steve George opened the scoring from open play and a hat-trick from Dan Webster secured Stags' passage into the next round where they will take on Eastcote on March 9.

The ladies’ seconds played out a 2-2 friendly draw with Amersham and Chalfont with the visitors’ goals scored by Sammy Clifft and Sarah Hall.
