Watford Town Cricket Club’s Alex Palmer has won the Hertfordshire County Cricket Under-13 Batsman of the year award.
The youngster broke two high scoring records last season, including the highest number of runs ever in his age group, and was presented with his award by former England cricketer Mark Ilott.
Palmer has been mentored over the past two years by former West Indies batting legend Gordon Greenidge, as well as former Middlesex captain Paul Weekes.
He has a high score of 136 not out and has a batting average of 37.82.
Palmer was discovered as part of his club’s grassroots colts cricket program which was started by Gulfraz Riaz with the purpose of attracting children from diverse backgrounds into cricket.
