Three Rivers Young Blades fencing club set new records last weekend as they won 18 medals at the Hertfordshire Junior County Championships.

Starring in the show were brothers Kishan and Ravi Sisodiya who won gold in the Under-14s and Under-10s boys foil respectively.

There were a further four gold medals for Jasmine Porter in the girls Under-14s, Amanda Mond in the Under-12s and Michael Lown and James Hall in the boys Under-16 foil and Over-13s sabre events.

But with almost 30 club members competing at the University of Herfordshire’s sports campus the success did not end there for Three Rivers as a further silver was added as well as nine bronze medals.

Chairman Mike Ellis said: “Once again TRYB proved themselves the most successful junior fencing club in Hertfordshire, building on last year’s success and it was gratifying that our medals came at all age groups and for both boys and girls.

“It is a testament to how hard they have all been training under a talented and dedicated group of coaches that we have been able to consolidate our position as the premier junior fencing club in the county.”

Next on the agenda for TRYB is the prestigious British Youth Championships which is held in the Institute for Sport in Sheffield in May.

Qualification will be taking place over the next few weeks, while there is still time to sign up for the beginners course which starts on Monday.
