Oxhey Jets reached the St Marys Cup final after completing a 3-1 win against Berkhamsted

Wayne Gladdy started with a defensive line-up but Jets swarmed forward in the early stages and broke the deadlock in the fifth minute.

Luke Beardsworth found Andy Brennan and he passed to Lee Armitt. The striker quickly controlled and coolly lifted the ball over the advancing goalkeeper.

Oxhey maintained their impressive tempo and soon added a second as Beardsworth produced a fine strike from distance that nestled in the net.

Jets continued to pour forward as the half progressed. Armitt was denied by the Berko goalkeeper but he had his second of the game in the 23rd minute.

He again latched onto a ball and burst through. As the keeper advanced he opted for a high chip which landed in the back of the net.

Berkhamsted pulled a goal back before the break as Frankie Jowle placed a shot past Will Baker and the score was 3-1 at the interval.

Berko were much improved in the second period and dominated possession, however, the Jets defence performed superbly to keep their opponents at bay.

Lewis Rodrigoe came forward and saw a shot held while James Towell headed wide.

Jets were able to see out the second half without conceding and secured their place in the final.

On Saturday, Jets maintained their improved Premier Division form with a 3-1 victory against Leverstock Green.

After a poor start to the campaign, Gladdy’s side have dramatically improved in recent weeks.

Mark Richards broke the deadlock against Green as he glanced a cross from Joe Kelly into the net.

Their advantage was doubled just before the interval as Sim Armstrong nudged the ball over the line from close range.

Green reduced the deficit early in the second period and dominated the majority of the half. It seemed an equaliser would be scored, however, it was Jets who next found the net.

Lewis Putman, who was making his 300th Jets appearance, took a free-kick 30 yards out and his effort dipped into the net.

It knocked the fight out of Levy and Oxhey were able to coast to victory in the closing stages.

Berkhamsted’s quest for the Premier Division title was dented on Saturday as they were beaten 3-0 by fourth-placed side Colney Heath.

James Shaw had the ball in the net for Berko early on but the goal was disallowed. Josh Chamberlain and Jowle were both denied by Ricky Perks as the first half ended goalless.

Josh Humbert struck for Colney after the restart and Dave Parkinson then made it 2-0.

With Berkhamsted pushing forward, Parkinson grabbed his second goal of the game to condemn Berko to a rare league defeat.

Tring Athletic sit ninth in the table after they recorded a 2-1 win against Stotfold.

Tring fell behind when Nyasha Sagwete was put through on goal and he slotted past goalkeeper Liam Watson.

Athletic equalised nine minutes before the break. Jack Seaton was brought down in the penalty area and a spot-kick was given.

Matt Clark was dismissed for the offence and Trevor Gibbs confidently converted from 12 yards.

Tring took the lead in the second period when they were awarded a second penalty. Gibbs again stepped up and slotted home.

Despite only having ten men, Stotfold continued to battle but they were unable to find a route back into the game and Athletic took the three points.

In Division One, Kings Langley were left frustrated on Wednesday night as their game against Arlesey Town Reserves was abandoned due to fog with the score at 3-0.

Connor Toomey, Craig Preston and Jack Johnson had all scored for Kings but, with conditions deteriorating, the game was called off in the 68th minute.

On Saturday, Kings suffered a disappointing 3-2 defeat against Welwyn Garden City.

Langley had taken the lead when Gary Connolly broke the deadlock in the 20th minute. However, Joel Norris struck an equaliser in first-half stoppage-time.

Norris then scored in the second period and City added a third through a Jason Caswell penalty.

Connolly pulled a late goal back for Kings but they weren’t able to find an equaliser in the closing minutes of the contest.
