Queens’ School’s Under-16 girls’ side lifted the National Cup after completing a 4-2 win against Heckmondwike Grammar School Academy.
The match was played at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry yesterday (Thursday) afternoon. Queens’ had fallen behind in the contest but equalised when midfielder Cassandra Chase found the net.
They then went ahead through Julia Waller and it was a lead they maintained until the half-time interval.
In the second period, Heckmondwike equalised and the score was level as the match entered the final ten minutes.
However, Queens’ then stepped up their performance and a goal from captain Jordan Littleboy put them ahead.
With the final kick of the contest, the victory was secured as Lilly Clark fired home.
Queens’ scored a total of 43 goals and only conceded seven throughout the competition.
It is the second year Queens’ celebrated victory after they won the Under-15s National Cup in 2013.
