Watford are in talks with some of their players who are out of contract this summer but Lloyd Doyley is the only one who has agreed terms.

The Watford Observer understands Doyley signed his new deal this week and it is believed to be another one-year contract.

There are nine Watford players out of contract in July; Manuel Almunia, Gary Woods, Marco Cassetti, Doyley, Fitz Hall, Lucas Neill, Nyron Nosworthy, Ross Jenkins and Luke O'Nien.

On Tuesday, chief executive Scott Duxbury confirmed Doyley was set to sign a new contract and added: "There are discussions with other players but Lloyd is the only player who is about to sign so far."

Can't see Sannino letting O'Nien go. Doyley is the only one I truly care about, Almunia wants to go back to spain anyway and Cassetti as class as he is we do have quite a few defenders. Wouldn't say no to another year for them both but would rather spend the wages on a better, harder goalie and funnel the extra funds Tozser's way.

We have not seen Gary Woods but I believe he was a good goalie and perhaps still is. Lots of dosh for someone who has not played first team football for WFC in case of injury. Marco deserves another season with us and I see Luke being loaned out so that he can develop. Everyone will be pleased about Lloyd, bless him!

Sign up Lloyd Doyley & Luke O'Nien

I would love to see Marco Cassetti stay for another year and I think there's a chance of that happening, he's still got the legs and the mind.

Almunia has been a fantastic addition to the squad, I think he'll go but I think it'll be a good chance to bring in another goalkeeper around 25-26 years old who has a lot of first team experience.

Fitz Hall, like Almunia - was a great signing and the odd game he has played this season he has been excellent, but unfortunately his body is made of glass, he is constantly injured.

Lucas Neil, I get the feeling he was brought in more for what he can do for the team off the pitch rather than on it, his experience will help the youngsters massively. He'll go.

Unfortunately Nosworthy, Jenkins and Woods will all be shown the door. Never seen Woods play but the Doncaster fans reaction when they heard we signed him make me grateful that he has yet to appear in Watford shirt.

I mentioned yesterday that Jenkins was no way near good enough for us, and the fact he can't get into Barnet's squad speaks volumes.

Nyron Nosworthy was brilliant for us and I'm sure if it wasn't for him getting injured on international duty he would have featured more at the end of last season. He was brilliant under Dyche and we will all be grateful for what he has done, but unfortunately we all have to move on.

I'm convinced we'd have gone up last season if Nyron and Tommie hadn't been injured.

I just looked up Barry Endean. One of our heroes from years back. If you have not seen it, you will find Endean on You Tube when we beat Shankley's Liverpool in 1970. Alas, we got stuffed in the semi-final.

We do have quite a few defenders now but if Cassetti, Nosworthy, Neill and One Size (and Belkalem who is on loan) all go then we look incredibly short again. Both in terms of numbers and Championship experience.

I would imagine O'Nien will get a new contract. Looks like Nyron will be going though, what with his loan to Bristol City. As one of our only 'hard' defenders I wouldn't mind keeping him at the expense of Belkalem and Brown.

As for Cassetti, I was skeptical at the beginning of this season that he wasn't physically up to another season, but he's been so good this season that unless he wants to return to Italy for his family he should at least be offered a new deal. Outstanding player.

If Almunia goes, would that make Bond first choice? As an alternative, I wouldn't mind Simone Scuffet from Udinese, but given that he's been playing ahead of Brkic there recently that may be unlikely.

Ah, what a day that was. Beautiful flying header past Tommy Lawrence and that wonderful pitch invasion afterwards......was hoping that GZ would have brought us some equally memorable moments.

There will surely be European-qualified Clubs in for Tozser. While I'd be delighted to keep him, I wouldn't get your hopes up....

I really would not mind seeing them all go apart from O'Nien and Doyley, yes Cass would be a good spare but he is not going to keep up with the pace of Championship ( in other words he is a good back up but would he want this option?) The rest I feel we could do better. why hold onto players like Brown et all if they are not first team fillers? Would really like a rehaul of key positions starting with goalie and striker as a priority! If the Pozzos want Premiership from their football plan they stated at the start then lets see the investment in 2 key players inthe above 2 key positions as a start even if it means taking them from their other clubs!

If I remember correctly there were over 30K at Vicarage Road to see Barry Endean beat the 'Flying Pig'. Barry is a Chester-Le-Street boy.
