Watford and Wealdstone confirmed an agreement for the Southern League side to buy into the 127 remaining years of the lease on the Vicarage Road stadium.
The move had been hastily arranged and agreed with the opportunity to share running costs on top of the 'seven-figure sum' that Wealdstone would pay directly.
However, the agreement lasted only two seasons, and threatened the future of the financially hamstrung non-league side.
